Crocs Size Guide India: What M8W10 Means and Which UK Size to Buy

Short answer: Crocs print a US code on the box and sole, such as M8W10. That means US men's 8 / US women's 10, which is UK 7 for men and UK 8 for women. So for men the UK size is the M number minus one, and for women the UK size is the M number. Crocs come in whole sizes only. The classic clog uses a Roomy fit, so if your foot sits between two sizes, pick the smaller one. The exception is fleece-lined Crocs: the lining eats into the space, so go up a size. Measure your foot heel to longest toe before ordering, and keep the heel strap in mind, because it changes how a slightly loose pair feels.
Below: how to read every code on a Crocs box, how to measure at home, which fit each popular model uses, and what to check before you buy on Amazon, Myntra or the Crocs India site.
Why Crocs sizing confuses Indian buyers
Most shoes sold in India carry one UK size on the label. Crocs instead print a dual US code because the same clog is sold as a unisex shoe:
- M = US men's size
- W = US women's size, always two numbers higher than M
An Amazon India listing shows it like this: "7 UK Men / 8 UK Women (M8W10)". If you only see "M8W10" and order thinking it means UK 8, men end up with a pair one size too big.
On top of that, Crocs run in whole sizes, so there is no 7.5. Anyone who normally wears a half size has to choose between going up and going down, and the right answer depends on the model's fit type.
The code converter: M/W β UK
Use this to turn the code on any Crocs listing into the UK size you already know:
| Crocs code | US men | US women | UK men | UK women |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M4W6 | 4 | 6 | 3 | 4 |
| M5W7 | 5 | 7 | 4 | 5 |
| M6W8 | 6 | 8 | 5 | 6 |
| M7W9 | 7 | 9 | 6 | 7 |
| M8W10 | 8 | 10 | 7 | 8 |
| M9W11 | 9 | 11 | 8 | 9 |
| M10W12 | 10 | 12 | 9 | 10 |
| M11W13 | 11 | 13 | 10 | 11 |
| M12 | 12 | β | 11 | β |
The rule behind the table:
- UK men = M β 1
- UK women = M (one size above the man's UK size, same shoe)
So a husband in UK 8 and a wife in UK 6 are buying an M9W11 and an M6W8. The labels look nothing like their usual sizes, but each is correct.
How to measure your foot at home (2 minutes)
The UK number on your current shoes is a decent starting point. Brands vary, though, so measuring is safer, especially for the Roomy fit, where an extra size feels very different.
- Stand on a sheet of A4 paper against a wall, heel touching the wall.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe. For many people that is the second toe, not the big toe.
- Measure from the paper's edge to the mark in centimetres.
- Do both feet and use the longer one.
- Measure in the evening, when feet are slightly larger after a day of walking.
Then open the size chart on the exact product page you are buying from and match your centimetres to the size. Crocs' own heel-to-toe chart runs from about 20 cm at the small end to 35 cm at the largest adult size. If your measurement falls between two rows, use the fit-type rule below rather than rounding up by habit.
Which fit is your model? Size down, true, or up
Crocs describe each style as one of three fits. The fit decides what to do when you are between sizes.
Roomy fit: size down if between sizes
This is the Classic Clog and its close variants, including the Offroad Sport clog, the chunkier outdoor version with a lugged sole and a bungee cord across the top. The shoe is deliberately wide and deep, and many first-time buyers think it "runs big". It is really just roomy. If you measure between two sizes, take the smaller one. The pivoting heel strap keeps your foot from sliding out, so a pair that feels slightly long in the shop is often fine on the road.
Relaxed fit: usually true to size
Styles like the Baya and LiteRide lines sit closer to the foot than the classic clog. Order your normal converted size. Go down only if you have narrow feet and your measurement is close to the smaller size.
Standard fit: true to size, no extra room
Sandals, flip-flops and slides with a snug footbed are cut close to the foot. Stick to your converted size and don't size down.
Fleece-lined (winter) Crocs: size up
The fuzzy lining takes up a noticeable amount of the inside. If you are between sizes, go up. If you plan to wear socks in your regular clogs through a Delhi or hill-station winter, the same logic applies.
A quick decision checklist
Before you tap Buy:
- Decoded the M/W code to your UK size (men: M β 1, women: M)
- Measured the longer foot, in the evening
- Checked the fit type on the product page (Roomy / Relaxed / Standard / Lined)
- Between sizes? Roomy β down, Lined β up, others β true size
- Return or exchange window exists on the listing, so a wrong size is not a loss
- The seller is Crocs or a reputable reseller, not an unrelated store selling "Crocs-style" clogs
Spotting a real Crocs listing vs a lookalike
Indian marketplaces are full of foam clogs that copy the shape. That is fine if you only want a cheap garden shoe, but the sizing advice above only applies to real Crocs. Things to check:
- The brand on the listing is Crocs, and the seller is Crocs or an authorised reseller, not a generic name.
- The product code on the sole and box uses the M/W format. Most generic clogs use a single size number.
- The price lines up with real Crocs pricing. A "Crocs" clog at βΉ299 is not Crocs.
Is now a good time to buy?
Crocs pricing in India swings a lot. The same clog can sit at full M.R.P. for weeks and then drop to half price during a sale. Rather than paying list price, track the model you want and buy on a dip.
Right now, for example, the Crocs Offroad Sport clog is half price on Amazon against its M.R.P. It has a rating of 4.2 stars from more than 4,000 reviews, and it uses the Roomy fit, so the size-down rule applies. Prices move without notice, so confirm the figure on the product page before you check out. For more live footwear and fashion price drops, see today's offers.

Frequently asked questions
What does M8W10 mean in Crocs?
It is US men's 8 and US women's 10. In UK sizing, that is UK 7 for men and UK 8 for women. It is the same shoe with two labels.
Do Crocs run big or small in India?
Classic clogs run roomy, not truly big. They are wide and deep by design. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller one. Relaxed and Standard fit styles run true to size, and fleece-lined Crocs need a size up.
Do Crocs come in half sizes?
No. Crocs are made in whole sizes only. If you normally wear a half size, size down for Roomy-fit clogs and up for lined ones.
How should Crocs fit?
Your heel should rest at the back with the strap forward or back, and there should be a little room in front of your toes. Your toes should not touch the front edge, and your foot should not slide around when you walk with the heel strap in place.
Are Crocs unisex?
Most classic clogs are unisex, which is exactly why they carry both an M and a W size. Some styles are made only for women or only for kids, and those use a single size scale.
